Client Directed Home Care

When you choose Nurse Next Door through CDHCI, you’re choosing support that’s personal, consistent, and centered on your life—not just a task list. The Nurse Next Door Difference:

Happier Aging™ Approach

We start with one question: “What did you love doing that you don’t do anymore?” Then we build a care plan that supports safety and helps you stay connected to what matters most.

Your Perfect Match Caregiver

Care works best when it feels comfortable. We match you with caregivers who fit your needs and your personality—so visits feel more like a trusted relationship.

Consistency You Can Count On

Familiar faces matter. We prioritize continuity so your team learns your routines, preferences, and what “a good day” looks like for you.

How CDHCI Makes Home Care Easier

Once you’re approved by AHS, CDHCI is designed to make it easier to receive ongoing home care with more flexibility and less administrative stress.

Direct Claim Submission
‍For authorized services, claims are submitted through Alberta Blue Cross—so you can focus on care, not paperwork.

Care Without the HR Headache
‍You don’t need to manage hiring, training, or scheduling on your own. You choose your provider—and your provider coordinates the service delivery around your approved plan.

Choice and Control
‍Pick the AHS-approved/eligible provider that fits your family best, and adjust as your needs change (in coordination with your AHS Case Manager).

CDHCI Services We Can Support
Based on your AHS assessment and authorization, CDHCI may include support such as:

  • Personal Care: bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility support
  • Homemaking (when authorized): light housekeeping, meal prep, routine support
  • Respite Care: short-term relief so family caregivers can rest and recharge

How Client Directed Home Care Invoicing
Can Help You

What is CDHCI?
AHS’s Client Directed Home Care Invoicing option that lets eligible clients choose a provider registered to submit claims through Alberta Blue Cross, within authorized hours.

Who does Nurse Next Door work with?
We work with Albertans approved for the CDHCI program who want flexible, reliable home care. This includes seniors, adults with ongoing care needs, and families helping coordinate support for a loved one at home.

What services can be covered?
Authorized services may include personal care, homemaking (in specific cases), and respite—based on your AHS assessment and care plan.

How is CDHCI different from fully self-managed care?
CDHCI is designed so clients can choose their provider while claims flow through Alberta Blue Cross for authorized services—rather than clients running payroll and administration themselves.
